The moat is the last mile — not the model.

Original 021NEXUS field note. Informed by industry reading — not a republish. Inspired by Frontman (Vibe Coding and Verification Debt in Production).
Cursor, Claude, and v0 made it cheap to produce code that looks finished. Founders can demo a full journey in days. What they often defer is the boring proof: who owns each path, what breaks at scale, whether secrets stay secret, and whether a senior engineer can reconstruct the system in a diligence room.
At 021NEXUS we call that stack of deferred proof verification debt. It is separate from feature backlog. You can ship net-new UI every week and still owe the same production questions — tests that mean something, rollback, observability, cost ceilings on model calls, and a named human accountable for every merge.
— Frontman, “Vibe Coding and Verification Debt in Production”
The failure mode we see in Archetype 5 rescues is predictable. Token spend spikes because prompts were never budgeted. Rate limits surface under real concurrency. Auth and tenancy were pasted together for the happy path. Nobody can draw the data flow for an investor or acquirer without opening twelve tabs of generated files nobody reviewed.
Enterprise teams describe the same pattern as “vibe slop”: velocity without review discipline. The metrics that matter shift from lines shipped to review latency, defect escape rate, and whether production changes have an owner — not whether the prototype impressed on a laptop screen.
Adding features on top of unverified code compounds the debt. The first move is a bounded audit: map the Core Transaction Loop, strip what does not serve it, and harden what must survive real users. That is the logic behind our 14-day production assessment — senior leads on your GitHub and cloud accounts, not a black-box agency repo.
When the business case holds, we do not stay a rescue vendor. We step in as fractional engineering co-founders with equity alignment, because long-term ownership of architecture and delivery is the only honest way to pay down verification debt. We are not an outsource shop billing hours to patch symptoms.
